Theodore Roosevelt was the 26th President of the United States (1901-1909), assuming the presidency after President William McKinley's assassination. Roosevelt emerged as a leader of the Republican Party and became a driving force for anti-trust and Progressive policies. The Republican Party was much different 100 years ago.
